Many people are content to live, without really Existing.
What do I mean by that? There is a category of people who live their lives as an eternal recommencement, in a certain passivity. The thread of their existence is determined by their professional concerns and by what is commonly called “the daily grind.”
No question of judgment here. It is simply an observation, even if I find it particularly unfortunate.
And then there are the others. Those who are eager to live, to experiment, to make the most of the time they are given on Earth. Like the first, they cannot escape the daily grind… But these people exist, and that makes all the difference.
Because who wants to reach the end of their life only to discover that they never really lived?
Explore, learn, and grow
If I choose to talk to you about experiences, it is because they play a crucial role in your life. Openness to experience is also one of the 5 major personality traits established by Goldberg in 1990:
– Openness to experience
– Conscientiousness
– E extraversion
– Agreeableness (pleasant character)
– N neuroticism or neuroticism (opposite of emotional stability)
Yes, the initials form the word OCEAN
Experiences challenge you, push you forward, test your limits, and force you to confront your fears. They are how you discover who you are, how you build character, and how you help create a better world.
They help us understand what it means to be alive.
We can even go further and speak of a philosophy of life. A vision consisting of feeding on experiences, creating things, building links with others and not being satisfied with the distressing banality of everyday life.
And if you are more of the type who is resistant to new experiences, don’t panic: there is always time for a change!
Change is now!
We all know that change can be very difficult, but we also know that it is necessary for our growth. If there is something you want to improve in your life, change should not only be considered but should happen.
It takes courage and determination, but you get nothing for nothing. It is only at this price that you will truly exist.
The best part is that it’s not about completely changing who you are.
It’s simply about changing your perspective on the life you’re living. It involves seeing what matters to you in life and making that your guiding principle.
My experience, as an example
Let’s be clear, I do not claim to be a role model for anyone. I would simply like to share with you my practice of the principles I set out above.
I am an insatiable curious person. Eager for knowledge, I spend a considerable amount of time browsing the web and documenting myself on everything (and anything, too ^^)! I also like to share this knowledge, I appreciate that those I meet learn things from me.
But I also want to grow as a person: to become more cultured, more creative and more interesting. I studied and learned (among other things) how to create a website to share this desire with others and encourage them in this direction. Ideally, I would like to earn income from this site to be able to fulfill certain ambitions, such as traveling for example.
This forms a coherent whole: starting from an ambition (sharing one’s experiences, knowledge, etc.), making it an experience (in my case, creating this site – my first) to access other experiences (exchanges with my visitors, travel, meetings, etc.). And having the feeling of existing a little more!
I would add that any experience is good to take, as long as you get something from it.
I would like to have your opinion (comments are made for that) 😉 Are you more the type to jump at new experiences or, on the contrary, are you reluctant to try new things?
